Privacy Policy

Welcome to Interactive Medical Services (Pty) Ltd (“iMeds”). iMeds provides its “Clients” with insurance medical examination services for purposes of medical underwriting. In the provision of such services, IMeds will book appointments with the clients of its Clients (“Clients’ Data Subjects”), to conduct insurance medical examinations at their place of residence.

iMeds undertakes to process its Data Subjects’ Personal Information (incl. Special Personal Information) only in accordance with the conditions of lawful processing as set out in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 as amended from time to time (“the POPI Act”), iMeds policy on the protection of Personal Information (“iMeds’ POPI Policy”) and to the extent required for iMeds to discharge its statutory and contractual obligations or to pursue its legitimate interest to perform its business on a day-to-day basis.

iMeds’ POPI Policy sets out how iMeds

as Responsible Party, will Process and safeguard the Personal Information (incl. Special Personal Information) of its Data Subjects; and
as Operator, will Process and safeguard the Personal Information (incl. Special Personal Information) of Clients’ Data Subjects.
the rights of iMeds’ Data Subjects and Clients’ Data Subjects; and
how iMeds’ Data Subjects and Clients’ Data Subjects can exercise their rights.

“Data Subjects” means natural and/or juristic persons to whom Personal Information (incl. Special Personal Information) relates.

“Operator” means an entity or person who Processes Personal Information (incl. Special Personal Information) for a Responsible Party in terms of a contract or mandate, without falling under the direct authority of the Responsible Party.

“Process” (including its cognates “Processes” or “Processing”) means anything that can be done with Personal Information, including its collection, usage, storage, dissemination, modification, or destruction.

“Personal Information” means information relating to an identifiable, living, natural person, and where it is applicable, an identifiable, existing juristic person.

“Responsible Party” means a public or private body or any other person which, alone or in conjunction with others, determines the purpose of and means for Processing Personal Information.

“Special Personal Information” means Personal Information as described in section 26 of the POPI Act.

Capitalised terms not otherwise defined in this “Privacy Notice” shall have the meaning ascribed thereto in the POPI Act.

Users of iMeds’ website “Website Users” are also its Data Subjects. Website Users are therefore urged to read iMeds’ POPI Policy in full, so that they are sufficiently informed in re the Processing of their Personal Information. iMeds’ POPI Policy can be found here .

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file which is placed onto your device (e.g. computer, smartphone, or another electronic device) when you use iMeds’ website. A cookie file is stored in your web browser and allows iMeds or a third-party to recognise you and remember things like your personalised details or user preferences. They also help iMeds learn more about how you use and access its website so that iMeds can make improvements and update features.

Cookies can be "persistent" or "session" cookies. Persistent cookies remain on your device when you go offline, while session cookies are deleted as soon as you close your web browser.

How does iMeds use cookies?

iMeds uses cookies to help it learn more about how Website Users use and access its website. These cookies allow iMeds to count visits and traffic sources, so that it can measure and improve the performance of its website. Types of cookies

The cookies iMeds place on your device fall into the following categories:

Strictly necessary cookies . These cookies are necessary for iMeds’ website to function and cannot be switched off in iMeds’ systems. Performance cookies. These cookies allow iMeds to count visits and traffic sources so it can measure and improve the performance of its website. They help iMeds to know which pages are the most or least popular and see how Website Users move around its website. All the information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. If Website Users do not allow these cookies, iMeds will not know when they have visited its website and will not be able to monitor their performance.

Targeting cookies. These cookies may be set through iMeds’ website or its advertising partners. They are used to build a profile of Website Users interests in order to show them relevant adverts on other sites. They do not store direct Personal Information but are based on uniquely identifying Website Users’ browser and internet device. If Website Users do not allow these cookies, they will experience less targeted advertising.

Third party cookies

All the cookies described so far are “First Party Cookies”, which means they are set and controlled by iMeds. Occasionally, third parties may set cookies on iMeds’ website, which it does not control. These are called “Third Party Cookies”. This will happen where, for example, iMeds have included embedded content on some pages of its website. When Website Users visit a page with embedded content, the third-party service provider may set its own cookies on their web browser.
